HGV and driving jobs in Northern Ireland.
10 live roles today · £12.75–£50,000 / hr
Rutledge recruits HGV and van drivers for employers across Northern Ireland, from single-vehicle owner-drivers to national haulage fleets. Roles cover permanent, temporary and agency driving work, with weekly PAYE pay for temporary bookings.
Licences are usually referred to by category rather than the older class names, though many employers and drivers still use both. Category C1 covers vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes, category C (formerly "Class 2") covers rigid vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, and category C+E (formerly "Class 1") covers articulated and drawbar combinations.

Driving & HGV jobs: common questions
- What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 2 driving jobs?
- "Class 1" and "Class 2" are the older UK licence names still used day to day in the industry. Class 2 is now licence category C, covering rigid HGVs over 3.5 tonnes. Class 1 is now category C+E, covering articulated lorries and drawbar combinations. Rutledge advertises roles under both the old and new naming so they are easy to find.
- Do I need a Driver CPC to apply for HGV jobs in Northern Ireland?
- Yes, professional lorry and bus drivers need a current Driver Qualification Card showing they hold the Driver CPC. This means completing 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years on top of the driving test itself.
- What HGV and driving roles does Rutledge recruit for?
- Roles typically include multi drop delivery, day and night trunking, tipper and curtainsider work, yard shunting, and van or 3.5 tonne delivery, across permanent, temporary and agency contracts.
- Do you offer agency driving jobs?
- Yes, agency and temporary driving bookings are available through our branch network, paid weekly through PAYE payroll with holiday pay and pension auto-enrolment where eligible.
- Which Rutledge branches recruit for HGV jobs?
- HGV and driving vacancies are handled locally by our Derry/Londonderry, Belfast and Newry branches, alongside other branches across our Northern Ireland network as roles arise.
