Across our 18 branches, some requirements never stop coming in. If you are choosing a direction, or thinking about a change, these are the areas where an employer is far more likely to say yes.

    Care and support work

The largest single source of ongoing demand in Northern Ireland. Care assistants, support workers and domiciliary carers are needed in every town we operate in. Entry does not require prior experience in many settings, but you will need NISCC registration and an enhanced AccessNI check, and drivers are strongly preferred for community roles. Manufacturing and food production

Production operatives, machine operators, line leaders and quality inspectors, particularly across food and drink, engineering and pharmaceuticals. Shift work is the norm, day and twilight patterns are common, and progression from operative to setter or supervisor is realistic within a couple of years.

    Warehousing and logistics

Pickers, packers, stock controllers and forklift operators, with peaks around seasonal trading. A current forklift certificate materially increases your hourly rate and how fast you are placed.

    Driving

Van drivers, category C and C+E drivers and multi-drop delivery drivers. Demand is steady, and a valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card are the practical gatekeepers. See driving jobs in Belfast.

    Skilled trades

Joiners, electricians, mechanics and plant operators remain hard to recruit across Northern Ireland, which is why apprenticeship routes into these trades are worth serious consideration for younger candidates. See choosing your apprenticeship trade.

    Administration and customer service

Administrators, receptionists, schedulers and contact centre advisors, across private, public and healthcare employers. These roles reward a clean, well-tailored CV more than most, because the shortlist is usually long.

    Hospitality and catering

Chefs at every grade, kitchen porters and front of house staff, with demand concentrated around the north coast and Belfast in the summer season.

What all of these have in common

Employers filling them are looking for three things: reliability, the right documentation ready to go, and flexibility on shift patterns. Candidates who can show all three are placed within days rather than weeks.

How to move into a growth area

    • Take the short qualification that unlocks the role, such as a Level 2 in health and social care, a forklift ticket or an essential skills qualification. Our course list shows what runs locally and what is funded.
    • Use temporary work to gain the sector experience employers ask for.
    • Register with a branch that recruits for that sector, so you hear about roles before they are advertised.
