Joinery Courses
Our Construction qualifications are aimed at people wishing to learn some skills within the sector, to progress on to becoming skilled in their chosen trade, or to progress through an apprenticeship and work towards becoming a master craftsman.
Level 1 introduces the learner to carpentry and joinery skills. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Carpentry or Joinery.
The Level 1 Diploma is aimed at learners who work or want to work in the construction industry and specialise in working with wood. We offer two trade areas within this course range: Site Carpentry and Architectural Joinery.
This course covers the following basic skills: producing basic woodworking joints, and safely using various hand and power tools. Learners must achieve 5 mandatory units:
- Principles of construction, information and communication
- Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery hand tools
- Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery portable power tools
- Produce woodworking joints
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
Privately this course will cost £685
Payment option 1: If you pay in full on enrolment you will be entitled to a 5% discount.
Payment option 2: Pay a 30% deposit and then 10 monthly direct debit payments.

At Level 2, learners can begin to specialise in their chosen area. This level is ideal for learners who have some knowledge and basic skills working with wood – probably from a role where they have worked under supervision. Suitable for those who want recognition for their skills, giving the chance to take on more responsibility.
This course allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Architectural Joinery.
To achieve this qualification, learners must complete the following mandatory units: Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace, Manufacturing Routine Architectural Joinery Products in the Workplace and Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace. In addition a choice of optional units must be chosen to tailor their qualification, topics may include:
- Marking Out from Setting Out Details for Routine Architectural Joinery Products in the Workplace
- Setting Up and Using Transportable Cutting and Shaping Machines in the Workplace

The Level 3 is ideal for learners who have worked in the construction industry and have plenty of experience. Suitable for those who are in a role that may involve supervising others and for those who want to develop skills further and move into a senior role or a position with more responsibility.
This course covers a wide range of topics, most of which are mandatory. To achieve this qualification learners must complete 7 mandatory units comprising of Workplace based skills such as:
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Confirming the Occupational Method of Work
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area
- Installing Bespoke First Fixing Components
- Installing Bespoke Second Fixing Components
- Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships
- Setting Up and Using Transportable Cutting and Shaping Machines
In addition, learners must choose from a selection of optional modules to tailor their qualification, topics may include:
- Erecting Complex Roof Structure Carcassing Components in the Workplace
- Maintaining Non-structural or Structural Components in the Workplace
