Turing Scheme
As a Rutledge student, you are now eligible to apply for support with funding international study or work placement opportunities through the Turing Scheme government grant.
The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s programme to provide funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. It supports Global Britain by providing an opportunity for UK organisations from the higher education, further education, vocational education and training and schools sectors to offer their students life-changing experiences to study or work abroad.
Rutledge has secured funding from the Turing Scheme for 100 scholarships on behalf of our students.
If you are a current or a past Rutledge student (graduated in past 12 months) you may be eligible to take part and apply for a scholarship.
Participating in a Turing Scheme placement will give you the chance to:
- develop new skills;
- gain international experience;
- boost your employability;
- develop your professional practice;
- develop a wide range of soft skills, and language skills;
- build relationships with international peers;
- gain fresh ideas and a better understanding of other cultures; and
- become more open-minded.
Students will return more motivated, independent and confident, having improved their language skills and gained an international network of friends.
Rutledge have opportunities to study and work abroad in:
- Malta;
- France;
- Spain; and
- Italy
The projects are planned for March 2023, May 2023 and June 2023.
Am I eligible
To receive Turing Scheme funding, participants must be:
- Registered as a current student at Rutledge and enrolled in studies leading to a recognised vocational qualification;
- Have been registered as a past student in Rutledge (must be within 12 months from application) and have completed a recognised vocational qualification;
- Participants do not need to be UK nationals to be eligible for the scheme.
How does it work
Students who meet the eligibility criteria can undertake both study and work placements abroad. These placements will last:
- Current students - 23-day scholarship;
- Rutledge graduates - 63-day scholarship.
All placements will be part of your academic year 2022-23.
Supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds
The government are particularly keen to support students from backgrounds where travel to an overseas destination for work or study might not otherwise be possible without additional funding, and students from certain underrepresented groups.
