Hairdressing, Barbering & Beauty Courses
For learners who wish to work in the Hair and Beauty sectors and want to gain a basic understanding on the industry. This course offers candidates the opportunity to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression.
It can be used as a bridge to further education, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
Learners must achieve 2 mandatory modules: Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector and Presenting a Professional Image in a Salon plus a selection of optional modules to compliment the individuals career path or job role. To give you an understanding optional modules include:
- Shampooing and Conditioning
- Skin Care
- Providing a basic manicure treatment

Learners must achieve 7 mandatory units: Style and finish hair, Set and dress hair, Cut hair using basic techniques, Colour and lighten hair, Advise and consult with clients, Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work. Learners must also choose from a range of optional modules relevant to them, sample topics include:
- Relax Hair
- Perm and Neutralise Hair
- Plait and Twist Hair
- Remove Hair Extensions
- Fulfil Salon Reception Duties

An advanced Diploma within the Hairdressing course range, the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing will give learners a wide understanding in the sector and provides the necessary skills and knowledge to prove occupational competence as a Senior Stylist.
This course focuses on creative techniques and will help learners build confidence by using their initiative in looking after clients.
Learners must achieve 4 mandatory units: Creatively style and dress hair, Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques, Creatively colour and lighten hair and Provide client consultation services.
Learners must also choose from a range of optional modules relevant to them, sample topics include:
- Cut Men’s Hair using basic techniques
- Fulfil Salon Reception Duties
- Provide Creative Hair Extension Services
- Provide a Variety of Relaxing Services
- Hair Colour Correction Services
- Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of promotional activities

For those who work or wish to enhance their skills and pursue a career in the Barbering workplace. The Level 2 Diploma in Barbering provides the essential skills to prove occupational competence as a Junior Barber.
This course consists of a selection of mandatory and optional units. To give you a understanding of this course, topics include:
- Shampoo, Condition and treat the hair and scalp
- Advise and Consult Clients
- Cut Men’s Hair using basic techniques
- Dry and Finish Men’s Hair
- Relax Hair (Optional)

For those who work or wish to enhance their skills and pursue a career in the Barbering workplace. The Level 3 Diploma in Barbering provides the essential skills to prove occupational competence as a Senior Barber.
This course consists of a selection of mandatory and optional units. To give you a understanding of this course, topics include:

- Design and Create a range of facial hair shapes

The Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy offers learners the chance to build on a wide range of skills, from nail technology, facials, make up, waxing and lash and brow treatments through to body massage and facials.
Qualifications in Beauty Therapy, Nail Service or Spa Therapy are suitable for those interested or already working in the industry.
Designed for those already working in the industry or looking to work in the Beauty Sector and go through the Apprenticeship route. It is suitable for those wishing to be a Beauty Therapist or Nail Technician.
Learners will complete a set amount of mandatory units and a number of optional units from a range that includes:
- Promote additional services or products to clients
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Provide make-up services

This qualification covers a very wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the Beauty Industry. The Level 3 Diploma in Beauty provides the essential skills to prove occupational competence as a Senior member of staff within the Beauty Sector.
The Level 3 is in Beauty Therapy – General is ideal for those who have worked in a salon, spa or similar job for some time, or have gained their Level 2 Beauty Therapy/Nail Services qualification. Learners may be a senior member of staff and want to demonstrate specialist skills, focusing on salon or spa services.
Learners will complete a set amount of mandatory units and a number of optional units from a range that includes:
- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
- Provide body electrical treatments
- Provide facial electrical treatments
- Provide body massage treatments
- Provide electrical epilation treatments
- Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
