Rutledge Leadership Academy is an ILM approved centre, offering ILM Leadership and Management Qualifications at Levels 4 and 5. Our aim is to develop leaders and managers through practical work based learning programmes that lead to globally recognised qualifications from ILM. We will do this through a blended learning approach which will involve eLearning, 3 hours one to one coaching (per unit) by phone and additional email support. In essence we are delivering a new training solution, where delegates don’t need to attend off site workshops and can complete at a time and place that is convenient to them.

What does an ILM qualification involve?
ILM believe management training should focus on real-world challenges that you face as a leader and manager. Through the qualification delegates will apply what they learn to make a positive difference to their job.
ILM qualifications use work-based projects and assessment. Delegates might carry out a real-world project as part of their course, or be asked to plan, deliver and review a piece of work in relation to their organisation or role. In essence, ILM qualifications provide training for real situations.
Assessment is crucial to measuring and embedding management and leadership learning. ILM’s approach to work-based learning and assessment enables managers to apply their knowledge, skills and awareness to a real-life workplace challenges.
Not all assessments will take the form of a written report, depending on the unit, a professional discussion may be appropriate. Assessing their development while bringing tangible benefits for their employers.

- We have a unique offering with the coaching element; all delegates will receive 3 hours one to one coaching (per unit) by phone with an executive coach who specialises in leadership and management practices.
The level 4 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management are designed for new and aspiring middle managers, helping to really get to grips with their role and gain comprehensive business knowledge and develop technical skills. Examples of job roles suitable for level 4 are: supervisors and team leaders.

Understand the Management Role to Improve Management Performance – The aim of this unit is for delegates to understand the Management Role by reviewing their own ability to manage. Delegates are required to understand the specific responsibilities of middle managers and how they contribute to an organisation achieving its goals and objectives; they will also focus on their communication and interpersonal skills; and create a personal development plan based on their self-analysis of how they manage. (4 Credits)
Leadership Styles – The aim of this unit is to be able to develop own leadership style to improve own and organisational performance. Delegates will assess own current style and understand the implications of their style for themselves and for those that they lead. They will also create a personal development plan to develop their leadership style and effectiveness. (4 Credits)
Managing Marketing Activities – The aim of this unit is to develop an understanding of marketing management in the 21st century. Delegates will become familiar with the concepts of marketing management including: products and services; market segmentation; marketing strategies; and the marketing mix. Delegates will be required to review a previous marketing campaign carried out by their organisation to make improvements for future campaigns. (3 Credits)
Developing Individual Mental Toughness – The aim of this unit is the develop individual mental toughness. Many industries are focused on employee welfare and good mental health – this unit makes delegates aware of the effects of pressure and stress in the workplace and provides guidance on developing personal resilience. Delegates will be required to assess own mental toughness, understand how mental toughness can be developed and be able to plan to improve own mental toughness. (2 Credits)
Developing People in the Workplace – The aim of this unit is to be able to plan the personal development of individuals in the workplace. Delegates will understand the importance of promoting personal development and be able to plan for an individual’s development. The unit supports managers to effectively develop their teams through understanding: competencies, training needs analysis, managing conflict, managing career development (appraisals, providing feedback) and providing development opportunities that are based on learning styles. (5 Credits)
Solving problems by making effective decisions in the workplace– The aim of this unit is to enable candidates to make effective decisions to solve complex problems in the workplace. This unit will enable delegates to analyse a complex problem in the context of their workplace, apply decision making techniques when assessing possible solutions and be able to plan how they will implement the solution. (3 Credits)
The level 5 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management are designed for practicing middle managers, helping them to develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities. Examples of middle managers are: department heads, general managers and branch managers.

Becoming an Effective Leader – Involves understanding own ability to fulfil key responsibilities of the leadership role and evaluating own ability to lead others. Delegates will learn about leadership styles and will self-evaluate their leadership style to create a personal development plan to become a more effective leader. (5 Credits)
The Sales Process - Managing Improvement – This unit focuses on the seven step sales process, delegates will examine both their organisation’s and own ability to meet or exceed customers’ expectations. Delegates will develop an understanding about the sales process to bring about an improvement that will exceed customer expectations, by identifying an improvement either in themselves or the organisation which they will implement & review over a period of time. (3 Credits)
Managing Customer Relations - The aim of this unit is to develop an understanding and ability to manage customer relations by identifying and implementing improvements. Delegates will focus on what customer service is and how to deliver excellent customer service. They will complete an environmental scan (PESTLE Analysis) in relation to their own organisation to find new customers and retain existing customers. As a result of the scan they will be required to plan and implement a strategy to find new customers and retain existing customers. They will also be required to appraise their organisations supply chain and recommend new strategies to meet customer requirements. (3 Credits)
Managing Recruitment – The aim of this unit is to develop an understanding of human resource planning and be able to be able to plan and implement recruitment in line with legal and organisational requirements. Delegates need to demonstrate that they are able to plan and implement the recruitment process within own area of responsibility in line with legal requirements and organisational policy. (5 Credits)
Understanding the Organisational Environment - Commercial Awareness – The aim of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of the environment within which an organisation operates. Delegates will develop business acumen by understand the macro & external environment through PESTLE analysis with focus on the economic, political and legal environment within which their organisation operates. (5 Credits)
Project Management - equips managers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to apply best practice in managing projects within their organisation. The course provides managers with practical tools and techniques to manage costs, achieve business objectives and improve efficiency. Delegates will demonstrate that they can apply project management tools and techniques to start, manage and close a project. (4 Credits)
Leading Innovation and Change – The aim of this unit is to develop understanding and ability of leading innovation and change. The unit focuses on the importance of innovation and change management in organisations. Delegates must Identify opportunities for innovation and change within their own organisation to create and implement a change management plan. (5 Credits)
Managing stress and Conflict in the Organisation – The aim of this unit is to develop understanding and ability to be able to manage stress and conflict in own organisation. Delegates will focus on what stress and conflict are and how organisations can reduce stress and conflict in the workplace. They will also analyse the role of managers in controlling stress and conflict in the workplace. (3 Credits)
Managing for Efficiency and Effectiveness – The aim of the unit is to develop understanding and ability to manage efficiently and effectively. Delegates will firstly focus on their own organisation to identify areas for improvement in relation to efficiency and effectiveness. They will also self-reflect on their own efficiency and effectiveness by obtaining feedback from their team and focus on how they set objectives, prioritise and manage their time. As a result of feedback and self-reflection, delegates will create a personal development plan to improve their own efficiency and effectiveness. (4 Credits)
Making Professional Presentations – The aim of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of making professional presentations. There are 3 sections to this unit which delegates must complete: firstly they will plan their professional presentation; secondly they will deliver a professional presentation; and finally they must evaluate their own ability to make professional presentations. (2 Credits)
Developing and Leading Teams to Achieve Organisational Goals and Objectives – the aim of this unit is to develop understanding and ability in developing and leading teams. Delegates will develop an understanding of how to lead teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives through authority, power, delegation and empowerment. They will also focus on their own ability to develop and lead their team through: support, motivation, feedback and evaluating team performance. (4 Credits)
