This month’s success story focuses on Derry women Aoife Stewart; and her progression through the YES programme and apprenticeship programme at Rutledge; to fulfill her ambition of full time employment in the hairdressing industry.
Aoife has always had an interest in the field of Hairdressing and had worked temporarily at a local hair salon at the weekends; however opportunities at the salon became limited due to Aoife’s lack of hairdressing qualifications.
It was from here that Aoife decided to enrol with Rutledge Recruitment and Training in order to get a recognisable qualification to accompany her hairdressing experience. Aoife joined the Rutledge YES programme in hairdressing; and on completion of the course, and keen to add additional professional qualifications to her portfolio; Aoife enrolled in a barbering apprenticeship.
Tutors from the course quickly noticed Aoife’s work ethic and commitment to the apprenticeship; resulting in Aoife taking up a placement at Rutledge’s JD Hair Academy in Derry; and it was from here that Aoife’s skills, enthusiasm and dedication to the job role resulted in her being offered a permanent position with the company.
Aoife reflects on her decision to join Rutledge’s training programmes “there was a number of groups offering both the YES programme and then the apprenticeship. I opted to do it with Rutledge as they provide top class facilities and the staff are welcoming and supportive”.
