This week’s blog focuses on young Derry man Dylan Clarke and his journey through the training for success programme and beyond.

Dylan decided to take a year out after leaving school in 2013 but found that he soon got bored of no daily routine and began looking for a course that would boost his chances of finding employment.

In 2014 Dylan attended Rutledge's Training For Success open day. Dylan  decided he would like to join Rutledge and train as a Barber. Dylan excelled through the training for success program through hard work and commitment; resulting in achieving a Level 2 qualification in Barbering.

Dylan has a new found love for barbering; building a rapport with Rutledge staff and fellow trainees.

“I found the course really rewarding. I had no interest in barbering before I came here. I enjoyed it that much that I used to come into Rutledge on my days off to assist the tutors with year one trainees”

Dylan is currently on placement working locally at the Red Chair barber shop located in the Rosemount area of Derry City. Dylan is grateful of being given the opportunity to add real life working experience to his qualifications.

“Dylan is doing great; and is progressing steadily. He’s a very keen fella and always watching and asking questions to better himself. I can see a lot of myself in him and he has a lot of potential to be where I am today” Declan Curtis (Manager of Red Chair barber shop)

Dylan has enrolled to complete a level 3 apprenticeship in barbering at Rutledge and will also continue to work at Red Chair Barber Shop. Follow Dylans path and enrol on our Training For Success programme today.
